WEEK 0: INVESTIGATION

remaining students: ???
On Friday morning at 7AM, everyone will find that they're now able to leave their suites and dormitories. How will they know the time they can leave? Well, it's because it's hard to ignore the fire alarm that's blaring in every building of the campus, and also the fact that all of the banners and materials with the school crest seems to have changed into something slightly different? Hm.
Is this a practice drill? Did someone pull the alarm? Perhaps there's an actual fire somewhere. There's only one way to find out.
Maybe you should look around.
Welcome Students, to the first investigation!
We will be posting top-levels for searchable locations—one set at 6PM EST and another set at 7PM EST. Each location will contain evidence to find, though it's up to your efforts as to whether you find all of it. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters.
We will stop tagging each top-level two hours after it went up, i.e. at 8PM and 9PM EST, respectively. Don't worry if you don't find everything! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial. At 9PM EST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s).
If you have any questions at any time, please let us know by pinging us on Discord!

The frog stubbornly clings to his hair, but leaps off in a fright when his eyes suddenly snap open, pupils constricted. He bolts upright, grabs his sword beside him in a reverse grip, and swings the blade around, parallel to Byleth's neck, in warning.]
no subject
There's nothing else of note about the area. I'm not saying whether there are footprints or not so don't take any lack of them to mean something,]
no subject
We're here to help.
[her own hand is on her sword, but it's a useless gesture. sieg would get her before she could move.]
no subject
Oi! What the hell are you doing out here? Can we put swords down, for fuck's sake.
[is he gonna try and cut someone in half.]
no subject
[He'll shout as soon as Sieghart moves for the sword; there's nothing he can actually do here except try to deescalate the situation. He's just sort of standing there with his hands out in a panic until he stops it short of her neck.]
Put it away, she hasn't done a thing to harm you. What are you doing out here?
no subject
Now deal with the other feral creature around here.]
no subject
It's you kids . . . !
[He moves to stand. A grimace crosses his face when he looks down at his pants. A fish falls out of his pocket and into the river with an abrupt plop.]
no subject
[he seems fine. she's over the threatened-with-a-blade thing.]
What bit you?
no subject
[Smacking Sieghart lightly (sorta) with the bear slipper.]
And these yours?
no subject
[He's more worried now, because a few things aren't adding up.]
Something strange is happening; we ought to get him indoors and let him get dry. Will you tell us what you recall while we walk back to the dorm?
[And, glancing at Molly - ]
Try messaging Beauregard, please? She has not yet responded to me.
no subject
Continue!]
no subject
That's not mine.
[He wouldn't invest in a pair of bear slippers. (He has poor taste.) Caleb talks sense, though, and Sieghart trudges his way out of the riverbank.]
What's going on? I remember a yell, and then . . .
no subject
[oh boy
she checks her phone for messages, and fires one off as she walks to the riverbank with sieg.]
How are you feeling?
no subject
Right, like I said to you two earlier. The yell and the thump!
[But he's digging in his pocket to get his phone, starting up the talk-to-speech.]
Beauregard? Where the fuck are you. For some reason, we woke up and decided to terrorize the geese this morning and found Sieghart in a ditch and some plush feet accessories. Don't know why that's weird or anything considering I wake up in ditches all the time, but here we are.
[Oh right]
You can respond to this message ... ?
no subject
. . . Do you remember passing out, a little bit after that?
no subject
[But it doesn't explain why he's waking up out here in, as coined by Mollymauk, a ditch.
He nods along to Caleb when he stops and raises an elbow to look at his upper arm. The marks, of which there are two types, are the same as those on his face.]
What's with these? . . . Did a goose bite me?
no subject
You were able to go outside?
[she draws closer to sieg in order to investigate the bites herself, without actually touching or detaining him.]
It looks like more than just a goose.
no subject
No response.
[Okay, fine, now he will be a little bit worried. Since it seems to have gone through.]
Last I saw you were heading upstairs? Don't remember you coming back down.
no subject
So you don't remember what happened, but you did get close to the sound we heard.
no subject
[At Byleth's comment, Sieghart squints at the other type of marks along his arm. Realization dawns and he frowns.]
. . . Now why would they do that? I didn't even chase any of them.
no subject
[this isn't adding up. none of this is.
but they were also more or less forced to return to their dorms the night before. so who was to say this was any different?
she looks at her phone once, twice, and writes another message.]
no subject
And who's even are these then? Somehow ended up with you.
