A buzzing alarm wakes you bright and early. You blink your eyes blearily, greeted by the sun's rays peeking through the blinds of a window. It's 7 AM, and it feels like you definitely went to bed way too late last night. Oh well, up and at 'em! Time to start your day! Except...

...this place looks unfamiliar. You're in a room with other people who are also waking up. Outside of the window is a large, sprawling school campus touched by the start of warm autumn colors. In the bathroom is--wow, another door through which are two more confused people in a similar room. Suite mates! In addition, if you go exploring within your dorm, you may find special access to a certain room. Though as you wander about, make sure you take a glance at the rules that are posted at each building.

Welcome to Wiwaldi Academy!

Outside on campus, the air is crisp. In the morning, your feet will crunch over a light frost and fallen leaves. The rest of the day is mild, but sweater and jackets may be needed in the evening and during the night. The sky is bright blue and empty except for an occasional stray cirrus cloud or two. It seems like fall is on the horizon.

In each room, students will find their own laptops with a welcome screen:

Thank you for joining us at the beautiful campus of Wiwaldi Academy! All classes officially begin on Monday. Students are encouraged to enjoy leisure time on campus this weekend. Please be mindful as new additions to the campus are in construction, and these are off-limits to students until completion.

The icon in the top right corner corresponds to your dorm: Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter. Even though you are all sorted by a particular dorm, please don't hesitate to meet and mingle with one another! You all will have plenty of opportunity to do so on Saturday during the Sundae Orientation. An ice cream bar will be on the campus lawn between the dormitory buildings from 12PM onward, and everyone is invited to come meet and mingle while playing introductory games.

Don't forget to think about your EXTRA CREDIT! It's a chance for you to get ahead on your work. You wouldn't want anyone else stealing your extra credit for themselves, so keep all extra credit assignments under lock and key.

Near their desk is a backpack filled with the following:

- an acceptance letter (the envelope is clickable)
- school supplies (notebook, pen, highlighter, binder)
- a framed photograph of a man and his dog
- a smartphone
- a school jacket
- a personalized mug
- a little pack of konpeito
- a cashmere scarf
- one (1) voucher

On their smartphone, they'll find an email with the subject Extra Credit Assignment. The contents of the email provide the details of said assignment.

Welcome to the Intro Mingle and the start of our game, everyone! Feel free to use the Saturday orientation as prompts for your top-levels. If you have any questions, you may use the Discord #questions-for-mods channel, or DM your mods (Dana, Francy, Anna, and Jan) directly. If you don't have all of us added, just let one of us know, and we'll create the mod DM for you.

A friendly reminder is that IC Profiles are not ICly unlocked yet. Please also stay tuned for Something Else on Sunday at 12 PM / 3 PM EST.

[The first thing Lalli (left) is doing after escaping the Fall dorm is immediately climbing the outside of it, scaling the brick facade with practiced ease. He isn't satisfied with just going to the roof, though, oh no. He is climbing up to the tallest point that he can, even if it means hanging on to a sloped roof or a pole rather than sitting down. That is where he will perch and look over the area, including the dorms, the cafeteria, and all the areas that are 'under construction'.

He's so focused in whatever he's doing that it's possible to sneak up on him, provided you can climb up quietly. If you're noisy he will look in your direction though. And option three is to wait for him to climb down like five minutes later and ask him what the hell he's doing.]

[Lalli now has his backpack and has found a place out on the campus grounds that has adequate tree presence to give him some shade. He's going to promptly dump out the contents of the backpack to inspect them. Right now he is looking over the smartphone with some confusion, like he has never seen the device before in his life.

A fluffy calico cat, about 9 months old, has made a bed in a mix of jacket and scarf.]

[The fuck is an ice cream?

No really, Lalli is passing up the ice cream entirely to just grab several waffle cones and waffle bowls, which he will take with him under a table and begin to eat. Even if you don't see him taking like 10 of those waffle bowls, the loud crunching can be heard easily.]

[ ........ Uhm. Someone's sure loud with their waffles. Nier is blinking a couple of times and then looks under the table??? ]

[He uses a free hand to gesture to the table over his head. This could technically count as 'at a table', yes.]

That isn't what I—[ .......... ] I guess you're right.

[ Lalli is at a table. ]

[ He's dubious. Without saying more, he leaves momentarily to get some ice cream himself, then joins Lalli under the table. ]

It's kind of cramped under here.

[Rita's about to walk right past Lalli, but stops when she notices the cat. while she's been going around with perpetual resting bitch face, her expression immediately softens at the sight...

but then she remembers she's not alone, and glances at the guy nearby.]

This your cat?

[silentscout]

[Lalli glances up at Rita. The smartphone is still in his hands.]

She is her own cat. But she is my traveling companion, yes.

[she'll draw a little closer and crouch down near the cat, see if she's receptive to being interacted with.]

Does she have a name?

...Kissa, I suppose.

[Kissa is absolutely all about attention. As soon as Rita crouches down near her, Kissa lifts her head with a soft 'prrt?']

That's the name Reynir put on her paperwork at the cat academy.

[softly:] Hey, Kissa. [she'll reach over to pet the kitty.]

... Cat academy?

[Option four is to just cup her hands around her mouth and yell from where she's standing on the ground.]

Heyyyy! You see anything from up there?

[He looks down at her, squinting his eyes a bit as he looks her over even at this distance. Then he looks back out over the campus as he calls back a response.]

It's like a small part of a city that's been cut off by forest. About two city blocks worth of buildings.

[Huh...]

Good to know! No convenient ways out then, huh?

Not without walking through the forest.

[Time for him to leap down! He doesn't jump directly from the roof to the ground though, he makes a few quick hops down to get down safely. To a ledge, to a small tree, and then to the ground.]

We'll need to prepare for a long trip before we try.

Oh, then how come you're staring at it? [she moves around to peek at the screen] ...are you having trouble turning it on?
