WEEK 6: INVESTIGATION
week six: investigationremaining students: ???
On Friday morning at 7AM, everyone will find that they're now able to leave their suites and dormitories. How will they know the time they can leave? Well, it's because it's hard to ignore the fire alarm that's blaring in every building of the campus, and also the fact that all of the banners and materials with the school crest seems to have changed into something different? Hm.
Is this a practice drill? Did someone pull the alarm? Perhaps there's an actual fire somewhere. There's only one way to find out.
Maybe you should look around.
Welcome Students, to the seventh investigation!
We will be posting top-levels for searchable locations—one set at 6PM EST and another set at 7PM EST. Each location will contain evidence to find, though it's up to your efforts as to whether you find all of it. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters.
We will stop tagging each top-level two hours after it went up, i.e. at 8PM and 9PM EST, respectively. Don't worry if you don't find everything! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial. At 9PM EST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s).
If you have any questions at any time, please let us know by pinging us on Discord!

Does it look like the scorch mark you'd get from a blast of fire, or more like a slow burning fire? If that makes sense. Ichinose will take a picture of the scorch mark, checking in which direction it tapers off while she's at it. She will also take a look at the ground and trees surrounding the scorch mark in case there's anything of note that's easily missed at a glance. Anything inside the scorch mark, too?
If not, then she will follow it.
Is it one continuous scorch mark? Or a trail of several?]

[calling that out for ichinose once she's close enough! also, yes, she's trying not to overlap to begin with so that she can see if there's anything else of note, so they don't both spend too much time looking at the same things. if it looks like there's just nothing though, then she'll go join ichinose-- she's staying within sight range, more or less.]

There's nothing in the immediate area where the scorch mark begins (or ends?). However, if they go a little further down—but before they reach the end of the mark—they'll find what looks to have been a scuffle! Disturbed earth and leaves, and slash marks in the dirt and in the surrounding trees. There are also a few blood splatters, as well as an object lying on the ground.
As for the mark itself, it's closer to a blast of fire than something slow burning, and it's just one continuous mark.]

She takes a picture of the slash marks, the blood splatters, and the exact position of the object lying on the ground. How far away are the blood splatters and object from the edges of the scorch mark? Does the blood have a specific look to it? Like, drips versus velocity splatters?
Anyway, she's going to take a closer look at that mystery object. Hello?]
no subject
wait no i have one-- how long is this mark.]
no subject
The mystery object is a red bracelet, except it's been cut so it's not exactly a wearable bracelet anymore.
The mark is several feet long, and there appears to be something else on the ground at the end of it.]

Slowly:]
Hey, where have I...?
[Bad? Bad.
Lucretia can have the other object at the end of the scorch mark, but Ichinose will take the bracelet with her for now. In the meantime, how are those slash marks looking? Is there anything she can note about them without having a weapon to compare them to? Like, in terms of depth, width, etc?]

The thing is... a body! It's resting on its back, one hand positioned over its heart. The body's also a little crispy, but it can still be identified.
Sakyou is dead.]
no subject
But, well. That sure is Sakyou!
Ichinose will come join Lucretia, looking pale as fuck when she realizes what they're looking at.
Is there anything under the body or blatantly poking out of it? I don't trust after the blood pool from w1.]

[she's just. kneeling down next to his body, quiet for a moment. damn it-
i typed this as fast as i could i'm gomen so we may never know if there are any swords here, and by never i mean not until tomorrow.]
