Good thing yesterday was just a dream, huh?

Just kidding. Everyone will wake up to a text on their phone that has only a simple message:

Go to the gymnasium at 12 PM. Attendance is mandatory.

Everyone is free to go to the designated spot on their own, but once it hits 11:55, any stragglers will feel compelled to go and will join the others at the gym. As soon as every student is inside, the doors will lock behind them.

All of the bleachers are out, so students are free to sit wherever they like. At the very front of the gym is a gathering of a few items, one being a large desk where two of the Dorm Heads are present. When the clock hits noon, the scoreboard turns on, starting a countdown of nine hours.

From where she's seated, Sally speaks.

"You have nine hours again. It's... you'll be able to do it. Work hard."

Better get to it. That scoreboard is ticking.

Hello everyone and welcome to our fourth trial! the next nine hours, the characters are expected to discuss among themselves, ask questions, examine the bodies of the victims, look over the evidence found yesterday, and revisit locations as needed in order to find the culprit(s). There'll be a one hour break from 5-6 PM EST, where no mod tags will occur.

footprint update

So we've got two sets of footprints, and for simplicity's sake, I'm calling them Set A and Set B.

Set A came from the stables, cut through the gardens, and went out to the road.

Set B begins abruptly near the gardens and heads into the orchard. The possible matches are Claude, Sakyou, Mollymauk, Kaine, Denji, Taichi, or Mandricardo.

Given what Caleb said about Mollymauk having a sword with a short-distance teleportation enchantment, it's very likely that Set B belongs to Mollymauk.

As for Set A... [SIGH.] the only match is Caiman.

Nobody else comes close. And you were out and about that night.

I don't want us to get ahead of ourselves - there are still a lot of things to consider.

But I wonder if the freezer might make for a good cover up for someone hurt by a weapon that inflicts frost.

I -- guess! But I don't remember anything! I went to sleep in the dorm -- is this about Molly's murder?! I wouldn't have killed him!

[just. standing here? she is just standing here, staring at caiman.]

So... Either someone faked Caiman's prints, or he was awake.

Someone could have used a mind-altering spell on him.

... we have a few ways of finding out, if we want to go for it.

[ calm, but he's not looking at caiman - he's keeping an eye on beau. ]

That's true, too. There were five mentioned, and three of them were used before last Thursday, so that would just leave you and Mandi, assuming there weren't more.

Not too hard to wear bigger shoes.

And if he was sleepin' someone could just take them. We do this footprint thing every week, so gotta figure someone bein' sneaky would change up their feet.

Right. It's something to keep in mind, but...

[ glances at caiman. ]

We shouldn't just dismiss any coincidences, either.

What...? But--that can't be right! Someone must have stolen his shoes or something!

It would make the most sense that he was moving around in some capacity. Otherwise, the murderer would have needed to falsify the prints, and drag him to the corner of the freezer.

Whether or not someone would be stupid enough to leave all this evidence leading to them remains to be seen.

.... Well if they are Mollymauk's and Caiman's... Molly walked to the Orchard on his own, right? So he was probably... killed there, since most of his body was found there. If Caiman's footprints don't go to the orchard as well, I don't think this means Caiman killed him.

I don't know WHAT it does mean, though.

Anybody got a map? The way these footprints go between the gardens, orchards, and stables is a little hard to visualize without putting it to paper.

And we'll still need to confirm if the prints in the other areas match.

With that said, maybe we should focus on set A first to rule out possibilities before we get too ahead of ourselves. Right?

Also, um...we didn't measure the footprints from the orchard. There's the one that goes into the orchard, but there's a different one that went from the orchard to the stables. I mean, maybe we should check those too, to be sure, even though they might just be the same as set B.

We should. That could be the third person, especially if they're smaller footprints than the others.

If anyone goes to check the orchard, I'll lend 'em my measuring tape so we can confirm.
